Recording made in 2013 with Kammerorchester Basel and Muhai Tang
Decca Classics today announced the forthcoming release of Cecilia Bartoli’s next album - a programme of dramatic concert arias from the classical period.
The recording was made back in 2013, with the Kammerorchester Basel under Muhai Tang, but it was only during lockdown that Bartoli had the chance to revisit them. ‘I enjoyed being able to attend to so many things that I had left unfinished, postponed or forgotten,’ she said. ‘At last, I had the chance to rummage through my sound archives in search of hidden gems. Among the numerous long-lost friends that came to light, the recordings on this album are particularly precious to me.’
An exclusive Decca Classics artists, Bartoli is one of classical music’s best-selling artists, with more than 12 million video and audio products sold. The new album – called 'Unreleased' and available from November 19 – includes arias written for the leading sopranos of their day by Beethoven, Hadyn, and Mysliveček, while in two Mozart arias Bartoli is joined by violinist Maxim Vengerov.
